Thistle fairy ooak art doll

When I was in a dark place after losing my grandmother, I started reading about the things she loved. She was so proud of her Scottish roots, and the more I learned, the closer I felt to her.

That’s when I found the legend of how the thistle became Scotland’s national flower. During the Battle of Largs in the 13th century, Norse invaders tried to sneak up on the sleeping Scots barefoot to stay silent. But one of them stepped on a thistle, cried out in pain, and woke the clansmen who rose up and won the battle.

And my first thought was oh my god that's a fairy. A perfect fae trap hidden in plain sight. So the Thistle Fairy was born. Beautiful, thorned, and protective of her homeland.
